About the job
The Maintenance Technician keeps Korpack's packaging equipment, building systems, and utilities running safely and reliably. The role performs preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance through the Limble work order system, following the SQF Infrastructure & Maintenance procedure so that every repair in a food area is risk-assessed, documented, and closed out with QA. The goal is maximum line uptime, zero maintenance-related food safety incidents, and complete, audit-ready maintenance records.

- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and calibrations assigned through Limble on time, following manufacturer recommendations and approved procedures; record all work, parts, and notes in the work order.
- Respond to breakdowns and Maintenance Requisition Slips from production; troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and conveyor faults on packaging lines (case packers, shrink wrappers, sealers, labelers, conveyors, scales, metal detectors) to restore production quickly.
- Before any mechanical work in a food area, complete and document a contamination risk assessment and notify Production, QA, and Sanitation; after the work, account for every tool and part brought into the area and confirm food contact surfaces are cleaned and sanitized before the line restarts.
- Record on each work order the equipment, area, repair description, product lot running, start and completion times, risk assessment, preventive actions, tool/part accounting, and notifications made.
- Use only food-grade, approved materials and lubricants on production equipment; never use cardboard, tape, paper, or zip ties for repairs, and route any temporary repair to QA for approval.
- Place equipment or facility areas that pose a food safety risk on hold, tag them, and track them through the Equipment/Facility Hold Program until QA releases them.
- Maintain equipment history cards and critical spare parts; keep the maintenance tool list and tool inventory current.
- Perform building and utility upkeep: lighting, HVAC, compressed air, doors, floors, walls, drains, and pest-proofing, and report facility damage found on periodic inspections.
- Support installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and start-up of new equipment.
- Monitor repeat breakdowns, flag abnormalities noticed during operation, and recommend additions to the preventive maintenance schedule.
- Follow lockout/tagout, hot work, working-at-heights, and all plant safety rules; report accidents and near misses.
- Support internal, customer, and SQF audits with maintenance records and walk-throughs.
- Assist with special projects as requested.
Competencies
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; reads schematics and manuals
- Working knowledge of GMPs and food safety requirements for maintenance in food areas
- Safety-first mindset (LOTO, PPE, hot work, heights)
- Thoroughness and attention to detail in documentation
